Pain to our feet can strike at any time, and throughout our lives just as we physically change, so do our feet and the different problems we might develop.

How does it feel?
Depending on where the problem is on your foot, the pain can feel like:
- A sharp stabbing pain
- A dull ache
- Tingling or numbness
- Throbbing
- A burning feeling
What is the consequence of leaving it?
Foot pain isn’t just a physical issue, it also affects all aspects of your life. It can feel emotionally challenging as you can disengage in social events, sports, the gym or even just playing with your children. For some people in certain jobs, they have had to take time off work because of certain footwear exacerbating their symptoms. Pain or discomfort is your body's way of signaling that something isn’t right and the longer it goes on it becomes more chronic.
How can it be sorted?
There are various approaches that can be used to get you back on your feet. At your initial, appointment a full history take is vital in getting the right tailored approach to your care. Looking at how you stand and walk is also important. From this, treatment may involve the following:
- Orthotics to help support your feet and change how the foot functions
- Strapping to give more gentle immediate relief
- Circulation checks with ultrasound to rule out any other causes
- Physical Exercise plans
- Footwear advice and modifications
- Lifestyle changes to aid recovery
- Options to refer you for shockwave treatment/ GP’s ect for further testing if required
